A theatrical production inspired by the classic The Screwtape Letters — a series of letters from a senior demon to his apprentice, explaining how a human life may be quietly, almost invisibly, undone.
Not through evil that shocks.
But through what looks perfectly normal.
And the most unsettling part is how precisely these instructions still work today — and how obediently we carry them out.
Some of these “instructions” sound like this:
Keep him busy with trifles.
Let him rush, check notifications, react, comment.
Above all, leave him no time for silence.
Convince him that being right matters most.
Let him argue. Rage. Divide the world into “us” and “them.”
Let him hate — convinced that his hatred is morally justified.
Replace reality with noise.
News, anxiety, scandal, trends.
A constant background hum in which it becomes impossible to hear oneself think.
Separate him from those closest to him.
Let him speak more to screens than to the people beside him.
Let him stop listening — and only reply.
Teach him to justify himself.
Let him always find an explanation for his weaknesses.
And always someone else to blame.
About the production
Letters from the Lower Office is a theatrical experience about the way we live while believing that our decisions are entirely our own.
But one question remains:
Are these really our decisions?
Or are we simply carrying out someone else’s instructions?
